BAM! is not a typical music school! The Bulverde Academy of Music, BAM!, is a unique music instructional facility located at 28152 HWY 281 in the Hill Country Square shopping area. We offer serious music lessons, with an emphasis on live performances in several genres.

At BAM!, our instructors are all accomplished professional musicians with a combined stage performance history that is decades long. Our curricula cover all spectrums of the live performance fields which include Bluegrass, Country, Western Swing, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Fusion and Orchestral/Classical. We offer music lessons that cover Violin, Viola, Cello, Electric Bass, Upright Bass, Drums (Kit and Marching), Piano, Guitar, Voice, Sax, Trombone, Tuba, Trumpet, Steel Guitar, Breakdown & Western Swing Fiddling. Along with applied live performance techniques, we teach harmony & music theory, composition and transposition.

Our Objective

The BAM! objective is to provide students with an individualized program designed to provide the best over-all advancement opportunities and that means being flexible rather than rigid in our approach. So, we teach by notation as well as playing by ear. We have developed teaching methodologies that combine the traditional with methods that are uniquely our own.

BAM! features our own String Orchestra, String Quartet, Horn Ensemble, Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Fiddle Group, Percussion Group and several Lab Bands in many genres (Bluegrass, Rock, Jazz, Big Band, Latin, etc.). Students are able to compete for positions in these groups.

Latest News

BAM would like to welcome and announce our newest instructor, Roberta Morales, who is teaching voice and guitar.

RobertMorales

Roberta is an accompished singer and song-writer who forged the foundations of her music career at an early age. Raised in Tucson, AZ, just north of the border of her family's native Mexico, she had the early influences of a musical family. Her grandmother was a concert pianist, a great aunt was the first principal violinist of Tucson's first symphony orchestra, her mother played guitar and piano, and her father loved to sing. At any given moment, the music playing in the Morales home could be Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Amalia Rodriguez, The Buffalo Springfield, Dionne Warwick, Led Zeppelin or countless other acts from a global range of styles. Roberta was tutored from an early age in piano and music theory by their grandmother. She and her sister, Lisa also began singing in public as youngsters with mariachis and on the radio (with a set list whose standards and range still apply to the sisters today: Hank Williams, Bob Dylan and a Memphis jug band blues).

After high-school, Roberta's developing music career took her through Texas and California, where she studied for six years in San Francisco with vocal instructor Judy Davis. She finally landed in Japan for a while playing music, when her sister Lisa invited her to return to Texas and perform together. It was at this time that the famed "Sisters Morales" Latin-Rock group was formed. Together, Roberta and Lisa, have performed all over the U.S. and Europe. They have shared stages with Los Lobos, Rodney Crowell, Merle Haggard, The Subdudes, Patty Loveless, Delbert McClinton, James McMurtry, Alison Krauss, Alan Jackson, Guy Clark, Joe Ely, and a host of others. Roberta and her sister have played venues and events such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Voices of Latin Rock in San Francisco, World Fest near Sacramento, The Willie Nelson Fourth of July Picnic, Taste of Chicago, the George Strait Country Music Festival and the Kerrville Folk Festival. They also started an all Spanish show featuring some of the mariachis from San Antonio, "Las Campanas de America". The Sisters Morales also have several albums out on cd.

"Roberta specializes in vocal training for stage singing and in vocal repair. We are very excited and happy to have her teaching at BAM and to offer her fantastic teaching skills and experience to our students!" - Bobby Flores
